Marie Branch of the Canadian Diabetes Association gave an excellent talk and slide presentation which was followed by a question and answer period. April shared the advantages of shopping DBSbaratS WI in your own community, and many participants learned The Desbarats Women's Institute about products they didn't even know were produced close to home. Everyone (Algoma North Shore District) was one took home a bar of locally made goats milk soap. ofa number oflnsmute groups invited to International Day at Mackinaw City, Michigan. The highlight was a tour of the U5. Coastguard Icebreaker. Mackinaw. which operates as a museum telling the story of its 62~year career breaking ice on the upper Great Lakes. Several ladies also toured the old Mackinac Lighthouse which operated from 1889 until 1957 when the lights on the newly completed Mackinac Bridge made the lighthouse unnecessary.
