What’s Happening . . . Rylestone WI Members of this Branch staged a fashion show - "Wedding Dresses of Then and Now" â€" at the home of Tweedsmuir History Curator. Dorothy Thomson. Over twenty dresses dating from 1928 to the present were featured. Some members modelled their own wedding gowns and accessories. Bruce Centre District WI To celebrate WI month. members from this District held a tree planting ceremony at the Bruce County Museum in Southhampton. President Janet Mc- Kenzie initiated the planting of a red maple tree. Following the guest speakers - Ross Fowler. Museum Curator: Past-President. Eilean Ribey: and. ViceAPresident. Margaret Playle - members from the District‘s ten WI Branches gathered for lunch in the Museum. Lynden W! A very successful fund raising yard and bake sale was held by this Branch at the Lyndcn United Church Hall ear; her this year. Members donated a large percentage of the proceeds to Pennies l‘or Friendship. At another event they joined with other Area Branches to help the Erland Lee Home celebrate their anniversary. Silver Wood WI Branch members recently honoured Eva Martin who has taken on the responsibility ol‘Prcsidentofthe Halton District Women's Institutes. Con- gratulations were extended from Provincial Board Director Maisie Lasby and representatives from the other lcn Branches in the District. Pearl Burt. a Charter Member of the Branch. was also recognized for her 40 years of dedication. King WI At the King Women's Institute an- nual meeting three generations ol‘ the Beynon family - Elsie. September IU‘N Grey - Bruce Area WI Educational workshops held in the Chesley Community Centre were part of the WI month celebrations for mem- bers of the Grey-Bruce Area. Sessions on "Facts, Forms and Figures" were aimed at helping WI Presidents and Secretaries fulï¬ll their duties more ef‘ ficiently; and. a workshop entitled "May I Present" was directed at assistâ€" ing Program Coâ€"ordinators and Public Relations Ofï¬cers with their roles. Vandorf WI A framed collection of ï¬ve print; was donated by this Branch to the Whitchurchâ€"Stouffville Museum in honour of WI month. The prints are of oil paintings originally created by Don; Evelyn Dewsbury (1918-1987). a local Vandorf resident whose mother had been an active member of the Branch. Doris. physically challenged by mus- cular dystrophy. painted five historical landmarks in the village - the Wesley United Church. the Canadian National Railroad Station. Snider's General Store. the Vandorf School. and the blacksmith's shop. Thunder Bay WI Thunder Bay‘s Women‘s Institute hosted forty-seven Extension Home Council members from Carlton Coun- ty.
