Bainsville WI On January 29th the Bainsville Women‘s Institute held its second an- nual birthday bash for residents of the Chateau Gardens Seniors Home in Lan- caster. Dressed up as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs‘ members of this Branch organized a funâ€"filled afternoon with food, gifts‘ balloons, dancing and good times. Bridgeport WI Mr. Frank Murray, Principal of the Bridgeport Public School, spoke to members of this Branch about his school's efforts to reduce. reuse and recycle. Beginning in January the use of Styrofoam cups in the school were restricted; and both students and staff have brought their own mugs to use. Mr. Murray also noted that both sides of all paper must be used before being recycled. Perth District WI The Women‘s institutes of Perth :R In the first year of Adult Leaders' Training Courses ofi’ered through the FWIO and "Pass It Or!” more than 300 leaders attended the course on "Landscaping Your Home.” in turn. they passed the information on to about 2,800 course participants. In February, eighteen groups from S inicoe County sent leaders to the landscaping course in Barrie. A total of 14S WI members attended. and a good time was enjoyed by all! Waterloo District WI Late last fall. WI members from both the Waterloo North and South District also organized a rally. Irene Weber from the Bloomingdale WI came up with the idea ofholding a Fabulous Fall Fashion Show and Luncheon. Fashions were supplied from merchants in the Conncstoga and Stanley Park Malls. Norma Blake from CFCA FM Radio was the commentator for the show. Over 300 tickets were sold to the event. earning a profit of $800. The proceeds were donated to the ACWW and the Waterloo Region Food Bank. Queenston-St. Davids WI Members of [hlh Branch donated a wheel chair to the Niagara on the Lake General Hospital. And also planted a tree at Upper Canada Lodge in memory of two life members, Jean Higgins and Vera Wilson. Thunder Bay District WI The official merging of the two Dis- tricts - Thunder Bay North and South - took place in January when presiding executives met with provincial Board Director Rose Green. Since that time. [wontyefive memâ€" bers. representing eleven Branches from the Thunder Bay District. gathered to take part in a Public Relae lions Officer and Program Coordinator workshop. Peggy Munro, Area PRO. welcomed everyone and provided at- tendants with a variety of ideas on how to attract new members. Then, Margaret Wilton, Area Program Co-ordinator, provided some useful tips.
