Standing up at a general meeting and saying “I need three volunteers. Who'd like to help?“ probably won’t do it. You need to approach the potential helper at a time when you can show and explain to her thejob description of the volunteer. Your approach should be enthusiastic, but not pushy. And, if during your recruit- ment of the volunteer. you feel like you're pushing. or if you think that she is feeling uncomfortable because you're coming on too strong. then something is wrong. Back up and try being a little less enthusiastic and a little more patient. Once you've successfully found someone to fill the position, don‘t lose them!
