To get an oval pattern fold a piece of paper in- to fourths and draw a quarter oval on the top layer. Cut out. Find the exact center ofthe rec- tangle and lay the center of the oval or square on this and trace around it. Cut out oval or square with an X-Acto knife. . Cut a piece of material 1/2†larger all around than the whole cardboard rectangle. Lay the fabric face down on the table and lay cardboard on fabric so there is an even amount of fabric on all sides. Put glue on cardboard and fold over sides. Trim corners and glue ends of fabric over. .Cut a piece of fabric 3/4†larger all around than the rec tangle with the oval or square in the center. Lay this face down and center the rectangle on it. Trace around the oval or square so there is an oval or square traced on the back of the fabric. Cut out the center ofthe oval or square, leaving about 1/2" of fabric inside the oval or square. Slash this fabric in several places â€" almost right up to the line of the oval or square. Put cardboard back on the fabric. spread glue around edge of oval or square and fold back the slashes â€" neatly. Turn cardboard over and lightly stuff around the oval or square with quilt batting. Now glue edges around back of cardboard as for the other rectangle. 5.Glue rectangles together on three sides, leaving top to insert picture.
