M) Spring Board Meeting PRESIDENT‘S REPORT Mrs. K. Hiepleh, provincial president, met with Mr. Ken Knox, Director of Rural Organizations and Services Branch, and his staff during the winter. With their support a one-day workshop was held for FWIO execu- tives and provincial convenors. This was to establish common program themes under the heading of Womenâ€" Unlimited Potential. Joyce Canning prepared information for this workshop and she and the branch staff completed and mailed the material to all conveners. Mrs. Hiepleh represented FWIO at meet» ings of other rural organizations and was on the committee selecting a site for the FWIC convention. She met with Mrs. Duffield for the final arrangements for the Officers’ Conference, and attended the meeting of the Royal Winter Fair Association and the reception for the 22 FWIO McDonald awards recipi- ents at Guelph. With many com- mittee meetings, the president still finds time to attend special branch anniversaries and meetings. Mrs. Hiepleh will be on the Ontario Bicentennial Advisory Commission. She will complete her term of office as president at the November Board Meeting 1983. TREASURER’S REPORT Mrs. C. Ritchie has completed all the necessary financial transactions since the annual meeting. This included writing 244 cheques and mailing 259 letters. She complimented the district secretary-treasurers on the excellent reports received to date. As treasurer, Mrs. Ritchie attended committee meetings and visited universities that might host the FWIC convention. The financial report showed an increase in the much needed Pennies for Friendship. SECRETARY'S REPORT As the new secretary of the FWIO, Mrs. M. Johnston dealt with all correspondence pertaining to her office. The eligible federation representatives for election as board directors for November 1983 had been contacted and letters to eligible board directors for election as provincial president were sent. She attended all committee and special meetings. 0 0 O ACWW REPORT Mrs. K. Hiepleh reported the greatest opportunities for delegates at the ACWW convention will be to comâ€" municate personally with women from around the world. The President, Mrs. Ziny Westebringâ€" Muller will speak on the theme “Living in Today’s World”. Her successor will be elected from three nominees; Dr. Ellen McLean of Nova Scotia, Mrs. Phyllis Howard and Mrs. Fayola Muchow of the U.S.A. Mrs. Hiepleh encouraged more subscribers to the Country- woman. Due to higher costs of ACWW, an increase in Pennies for Friendship would be appreciated. JWIO REPORT The twu directors for the Junior Women’s Institute were present at the semi-annual meeting and enthusiastic about their 19 branches with 350 members. A goal has been set for 1984 to increase their membership to 500. Three spring conventions were held with the fall Convention to be in Guelph. Ont. Three of their members will be attending the ACWW conference in Vancouver. Linda Tottenham, the winner of the JWIO award, is studying at the University of Western Ontario.
