Reflections from ROS che calming (Rural Organizations and Services) LADIES â€" What is your institute planning to do in 1983-84 that is NEW, that is exciting, that is TIME~ LY, that is THOUGHT PROVOK- ING? This is the time of year for pro- gram planning, for looking ahead, {or setting goals and objectives. What does your institute want to accomâ€" -)lish in the year ahead? If you don’t nave the answer for that question, hen you don’t have EFFECTIVE program planning. IN ORDER TO BE EFFECTIVE OR SUCCESSFUL AT SOMETHING YOU MUST, FIRST OF ALL, KNOW WHAT IT IS YOU ARE TRYING TO DO. February 8, your provincial ex» ecutive, previncial convenors (or designate) and myself along with two other resource staff members of the Rural Organizations and Services Branch met to talk about program planning. Asa result ofthis meeting, you will be receiving, or may have already received, for each convenorv ship, some program ideas for use in 1983-84. I hope that each branch and each convenor will find this material useful, It is my sincere wish that this idea can be expanded on in future years to develop a useful and timely exchange of program ideas for use by the membership. A STRONG ORGANIZATION is dependent on STRONG PROâ€" GRAMS. Keep this thought before you as you plan the year ahead. Meet HOME & Country’s editor This issue of Home & Country magazine has been edited by Carol Stewart-Kirkby. A graduate of Ryerâ€" son Polytechnical Institute with a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Jour- :ialism, Carol worked most recently as education and health reporter for ihe Oakville Beaver newspaper, a bi- weekly publication. She captured an .rward for her writing and reporting :kills there from the Canadian Health Care Public Relations Association for a sevenâ€"part series she wrote on :he Oakville hospital. Carol has also worked as general reporter and editor of the Stoney Creek News, on promotion and pub- licity campaigns for the Consumers’ Association of Canada, and as editor of a children's tabloid for the Niagara South Board of Education. Naturally enough, Carol is familiar with the Women’s Institute because her mother is a member and because she worked in Stoney Creek. In fact. she visited the Erland Lee Home at Christmas-time as a reporter for the Stoney Creek News. In her spare time, Carol enjoys cross-country skiing, golf, reading, writing and knitting. She lives in Oakville with her husband and cat. Her vitality and fresh ideas bring a sparkle to our office and I know those same qualities are reflected in Home & Country.
