River- 'side, one of the oldest Branches, was originally known as Marden, but changed its name in 1915 when some of the members formed a new Branch called West End. STOUFFVILLE WI. ROYALWEDDING The wedding of Prince Grades and Lady Diana Spencer provided a happy theme for a money-raising event planned by WEST END WI, WELLINGTON SOUTH DIS- TRICT, for the International Year of Disabled Persons. Approximately $725.00 was raised during the afternoon. A special_attraction was the presentation by the West End Entertainers featuring “weddings” in musicals, such as “Get me to the Church on Time", “Poor John" and “Left at the Altar". Another feature much enjoyed by the audience when members wore their original wedding dresses. dating from 1944-1970. A mother of the bride appeared in a cream lace garden party dress of the early I900 era. carrying a cerise parasol of an earlier date. Each bride entered on the arm of a gentleman portraying the father dressed in an 1850 officers‘ mess dress uniform. Colorful slides were shown of various ceremonial events over the years in England. A display of dolls dressed in costumes representing many countries belonging to the Associated Countrywomen of the World, added an international touch. Items for sale included home-made baking. crafts, white elephant articles. A quilt and afghan were presented to lucky winners. Because of the iYDP‘s project. the CNIE were present with a display and sales table. Also Adult Rehabilitation Centre Industries had a similar display of articles for sale made by their trainees.
