You'll get the opportunity to leam and practice how to do "simple" electrical and plumbing repairs, Instruction sheets. and the necessary tools and materials are provided to complete a repair at individqu work stations. By actually working through an electrical or plumbing repair, you'll gum the necessary experience and confidence to tackle such repairs at home. What repairs and stations are part of this course? In the Niagara Peninsula. the course was held in locations. There were two sessions oftwenty participant- each location. The Women‘s institutes in each location helped to h l the hall and the resource people: and to publicize il l advertise the program. This assistance definitely increa t the popularity of the course! The high calibre of resource people assisting at eat session contributed greatly to the knowledge gained by l participants. The majority of people were electrician plumbers. handymen fl some retired and others still in l ‘ field. In most cases, these experts were husbands t Women‘s Institute members. Energetic Women‘s InstitL members and 4-H leaders also acted as resource people. special training session for these people was held prior t the short course. The willingness of the resource people to share lhtt skills and knowledge voluntarily with the participants h ~ been very impressive. Their faces literally lit up as th~~ talked about something they knew and enjoyed doing. ThL ’ interest and assurances made the participants fee] that th‘ could master the repairs.
