WHAT HAVE W.I.’s ACCOMPLISHED? THE WATERS WI, SUDBURY DISTRICT was or- ganized in I936. one charter member remains active with a half dozen long-time members still working in the interests of the Branch. This Branch which meets monthly in the Waters Fire Hall has much to be proud of. They were instrumental in en- couraging changes in the Community that eventually benefited all. a few examples cited are: the urging of a Public Library. rural mail delivery. traffic lights and the early telephone system. Scholarships are awarded to high school graduates, con- tinuing on for further education Prizes are given to Grade 8 students in three local elementary schools. Members of Waters assist in maintaining and beautifying the local cemetery and provide voluntary services to the Public Library. The Branch has completed one Tweedsmuir History Book containing collections of stories, pictures and records of all local history. Sponsorship of two 4-H Homemaking clubs is an impor- tant part of the Branch work. Shelley Kirkbride, member of the Lively 4»H received Provincial Honours recentiy.
