râ€"Jfl THE NEW FWIO PRESIDENT Iftétfj‘tflltle. MEET A new beginning is ahead for Mrs. Keith Hiepleh the newly elected President of the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario. She received her introduction to Women's Institute very early in life. because as a little girl she often attended meetings when her WI Mother hosted Branch meetings. Born in Malahide Township in Elgin County and raised on a farm. has instilled in her the love of the land and the country. She enjoyed the one and a half mile walk with her sister to public school at Luton and later the three mile bicycle ride to Aylnier High School. After graduating from London Normal School in 1946 she taught public school at Dunboyne, It was during this time that she joined the East Elgin Junior Women's Institute (November 20. 1946). Ten days later the Elgin County Women's Institute organized and she was chosen a Director at the inaugural meeting. She faith- fully attended the Junior WI. serving as both Secretary- Treasurer and President. during her years of member- ship. Shortly after her marriage she joined Kingsniill- Mapleton Women‘s Institute and has been active ever since, holding Convencrships and serving as President. Her interest extended beyond KingsmiII-Mapleton Branch. Janet became President of Elgin East District, Elgin County Rally and she has just completed two years as London Area President. During her term on the Provincial Board from 1975-78 she assumed the duties of a Scholarship Committee member and FWIO representative on the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Board. She was a voting delegate for FWIO to both the FWlC Convention in Charlottetown and also at the ACWW in Nairobi, Kenya. After completing her term of office on the .C FWlO Board. shc travelled to the 1979 FWlC Conven. tion in Saskatoon. representing London Area.
