TREASURER OF ONTARIO Mrs. Clifford Ritchie was appointed by the Board to the office of Treasurer of the Federated Women‘s Institutes of Ontario, A native of Middlesea County "Velma" was a 4-H Homemaking Club girl having completed 19 units, Be- cause ofthc benefits she received from 4-Ht it seemed natural that years later she would be instrumental in assisting in organizmg a 4‘H club in the Parkhill area. She was brought up in a Women‘s Institute atmos- phere. with Mother attending W1 meetings regularly so it was no surprise when as a young lady she joined the Ailsa Craig Junior Women's Institute. Alter marriage to Clifl‘ord Ritchie. she jomed the Cloverdalc WI at Parkhill and has been active ever since. Mrs. Ritchie has held many ofthe oflices in her branch and presently is completing her second year as president. She did not limit her efforts to the branch but served as secretary treasurer of Middlesex North Dis- trict for Six years and then went on to serve London Area for six years as their treasurer. Mrs. Ritchie graduated from the Ailsa Craig Con- tinuation School and worked in the local bank before marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie own a farm north of Parkhitl. The eldest ol‘ three sons. Glen was married last sumâ€" mer and he and his wife have purchased the grand- father‘s century farm; the second son Dwayne. also owns his own farm. A third son Bcv. in his final year at North Middlesex District High School. shows a gen- uine interest in the large farming operation. In all. the Ritchie‘s farm 650 acres as a family enterprise and “Velma” is an involved participant in the hog finish- ingI operation. In her busy life. Women's institute work holds a priority. however she is active in the Parkhill United Church and Sunday School and also has been on the local Fair Board for the last twenty years. Along with her role as wife and mother and busi- ness partner she has one special and t‘ascmating hobbyâ€"cake decorating,
