PRESIDENT‘S REPORT Mrs. Herb Maluske “We extend a warm welcome to Miss Molly McGhee. the new Director of the Home Economics Branch and the Honorary President of the FWIO. I know we shall enjoy working with Miss McGhee. coâ€" operating with her programmes and she with us in the achievement of common goals." A brieï¬ng session for the discussion group leaders for Ofï¬cers‘ Conference was conducted. The presenta- tion was on programme planning incorporating prepa- ration. promotion and participation. The overall ob» jective is to create new programme ideas to spark and increase interest at branch level. Many meetings took place within the last few months, Finance. Constitution, Erland Lee Com- mittee. Consumer meetings of the Ontario Food Council. as well as planning for the 80th anniversary celebration on July 13 at Bingeman Park. Kitchener. Other meetings attended were a special meeting called by the Hon. Wm. G. Newman on loss leader adver» using; 3 Directors‘ meeting of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair: a reception following the opening of par- liament; Branch meetings; and speaker at the 80th an- niversary of Stoney Creek W.l. The Ontario Hydro Electric Power Commission asked FWIO to participate in the regional studies re: future hydro facilities in Southwestern Ontario. Mrs, Maluske was only able to attend one meeting because ofconflicting commitments. Mrs. Middleton and Mrs. Wallace have attended meetings. PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER MrS. J. Harvey Houston One hundred and sixtyâ€"six printers‘ proofs are cir- culated to mainly weekly newspapers in Ontario. The fourteen Area and one Junior PRO received reports of the provincial convener after the annual meeting, and a Provincial report was sent to FWIC. Mrs. Houston attended meetings of the executive and for the plan- ning ofthe 80th anniversary celebration. She sold WI. supplies. spoke at W.l. meetings and carried on the publicity work for FWIO when necessary. SECRETARY TREASURER‘S REPORT Mrs. Earl Morden The annual ï¬nancial scholarship report for the cal- endar year was prepared and mailed to the 26 District. County and Area Scholarship Committees. Scholar- ship cheques and certiï¬cates were mailed to winners ratiï¬ed at the annual meeting. Lists were mailed to 15 District Secretary Treas- urers. advising them of the eligible Federation Repreâ€" sentatives and alternates who may stand for election as Board Directors at the 1977 Area Conventions. Let» ters were sent directly to the eligible candidates advis~ ing them of their eligibility. Complete information regarding nominations for Provincial President have been mailed to Board Direc» tors who have completed their term on the Provincial Board since the election of Mrs. Maluske. All fee sheets have been received from the llhl Branches. The membership in Ontario is 29.217. HANDBOOK REVIEW COMMITTEE During each President‘s term of ofï¬ce a committee is appointed to update and review the Handbook. The Committee proposed changes for the consideration of the Provincial Board. Upon acceptance ofthe changes by the Minister of Agriculture and Food and the legal branCh the changes will be printed in a future issue of Home and Country. The two most important changes: FWlO fees Will be increased from 50¢ to $1.00 in 1978. Noteâ€"this is only FWIO portion. The Provincial Board accepted the recommendation that the Provincial olï¬cc of SeC~ retaryâ€"Treasurer. be divided into the ofï¬ces of Provin- cial Secretary and Provincial Treasurer. A motion was carried to accept applications at the FWIO ofï¬ce for both ofï¬ces. so the position can be ï¬lled at the Annual Board Meeting. December 5â€"9. The Division is only at Provincial level. SCHOLARSHIPS The Provincial Board ratiï¬ed 22 District County and Area Scholarship winners and alternates and two winning candidates and alternates were also ratiï¬ed for the Maryn Pardy Scholarship lLondon Area). Names will be released by the County District and Areas at special events in their own communities Pine Ridge Wt are considering sending $2000.00 to be invested by FWIO for a scholarship. Plans still to be ï¬nalized. It was approved that Miss Molly Mcthe would instruct Home Economists to be responsible for printing scholarship forms and their role on the local Scholarship Committees will be that of resource per- sonnel.
