Yes you have You’ve often said it Procrastinntar When you want to delay or put something of you’ll say, when I get “around tuft.“ In our hurry around world, when priorities are many, it is easy to put OH, to delay, to wait until we get “around tuit.” We don't always use this expression, instead we choose to say, “we. got all tied up at a meeting" “something turned up unexpectedly“ “the phone rang oh" the hook". Think about this. What does this delaying tactic mean? Are we afraid to tackle what is ahead, is it a boring idea, is there something else we would much rather do? Whatever the rea- son, if it is a job that must be done, we might as well do it. Perhaps the old philosophy is still relevant, don’t put oil" until tomorrow, what we can do today. The drive and stamina needed to avoid this pitfall does not come easily 7 it is simpler to take the easy road, but instead we must work constantly at doing our best. This slackness, apathy, taking for granted, is a cause for concern. It’s the lower- ing of our personal standards. the loss of potential competency which prohibits us from achieving beyond our dreams. If Mrs. Adelaide Hoodless and Erland Lee had not gotten “around tuit“ there surely would not be a Women's Institute today. If Mr. Lee hadn‘t heard Mrs. Hood- less speak at a meeting in Guelph and he had not put forth an effort to encourage all the women in Stoney Creek to attend a local meeting to hear proposals for a new amplitude to their life-styles. This meeting would still not have reached fulfillment if Mrs. Hoodless had not fired enthusiasm in those women to form an organization to assist them to develop higher standards in homemaking and open up new horizons. If ACWW and UNICEF had not gotten “around tuit" at the 0510 Conference the Save Sight project would not have given Women‘s Institutes the opportunity to contribute money so Vitamin A could be provided to combat blindness in young children in Asia. lf Mrs. Drage hadn't put her thinking cap on and gotten “around tuit“ Pennies For Friendship would not be the life line for ACWW. The stories could go on and on about incentives being provided to help in some way. We are so dependent on people getting around to doing things. yet each in their own way should be responsible for their own corner of the world. We need those persons who push for change and enthuse the rest of us to become involved. to move beyond the immediate into fields of endeavour yet unexplored. We are indeed thankful to those who did get “around tuit". however we have a duty as well. As Women’s Institute members, perhaps the most important role is to develop priorities which are meaningful. If each and every WI member would develop an interest in others, and a sense of identifying the needs and requirements of those around us, this would be a step forward. It becomes increasingly important that society depends more and more on the energies and capacities of women. As Women’s Institute members we must learn to bridge the gap from home into community providing the incentives as well as the motivations for ideas which will assist each community to give an added dimension to standards for living. It’s up to all of us to get “around tuit." Wfiywfimfifia/
