A demonstration of drying weeds and flowers made everyone want to try this cral't. The sale table was again successful and helped defray Area expenses. A quilt parade with commentary. telling about pat- lerns and how to assemble. interested all. A Speaker on Family Property Law was most timely. and later a workshop was to be held and some members had been invited. Trent Valley Area Originally the idea was proposed by a former Pres- ident. Mrs. Gordon Mncklin. Lind carried on by Mrs. ClilTord Reid. President. A request that the Area make the “ACWW Save Sight“ .1 special concern for Trent Valley. Branches were requested to make their donations through the Districts. these to be presented at the Area. In I973. $828.31 was presented and In [974. a cheque for $1251.00 was presented to FWlO to be for- warded for this worthwhile project. Also. the PRO reported almost ten thousand dol- lars was spent on education For members and 4H. Grey Bruce Area The annual attendance trophy was won by Bruce South District and accepted by the District President. Mrs. David lreland. The theme “Nothing great was achieved without enthusiasm". appeared to give the delegates incentives and ideas to encourage renewed interest at branch level. A display of Bruce County Tartan. originally a prize winner at a local fair. was exhibited. The Tartan has been a Women‘s Institute project for many years. A variety program Featuring Scottish dancers and soloists as well as a comedy fashion show proved en- tertaining at the annual banquet. Simcoe Area Discussion groups was a new innovation, and proved successful. so much so there were requests that this be on next year’s programme. Immediate Past and Present Board Directors along with the immediate past area president conducted the groups. Plans were well thought out and all used the same material 29
