Fees where known are to follow a brief outline of service rendered, WHEREAS it is understood that the Federal Govern» mom of Canada is planning a water diversion scheme which would flood a large area of Northwestern On- tario between the Lakehcad and the Manitoba border. and said diversion would displace Indian families he- cessitating re-establishment of their mode of life and place of residence; and WHEREAS said flooding would change the ecological nature of our land; and WHEREAS said flooding would destroy much wildlife habitat; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Feder- ated Women‘s institutes of Ontario request the Fed- eral Government to refrain from this diversion scheme and flooding of Ontario land. Southwestern Area requested capital punishment for all murderers in Canada. this request 15 no longer valid, as parliament has approved a ï¬ve year exten- sion on capital punishment as it now stands. Asa result oftwo resolutions sent in by North Cenr tral Area. a survey was conducted by Board Directors questioning that CBC programmes were obscene. vio- lent and showed too much drinking. Five persons were asked to list programmes ï¬tting into these categories by each Board Director, From your reports. these were tabulated and the results Will be sent on to the CBC. Consequently. the resolutions were not sustained, in~ stead a letter will be sent listing deï¬nite programmes. date and time of viewing. age of viewer: this was felt to be a more effective method at. handling these two resolutions. The ï¬ve programmes that gained the most disfavour were the Rowdy Man. Maude. All in the Family. Cannon and Police Story. Commendation for The National Dream and nature show will also be mentioned.
