First Year of Ownership , The Erland Lee Home has been owned by the jn'embers of the Women’s Institutes of Ontario for a little over a year. The Committee have endeavoured to make this property a part of every Institute member. This has 0! been an easy task. but tasks are never easy. and st as all members of our own household are difl‘era gm, there is no reason to believe. as organizational . members. we are going to think alike. ‘ ' We had a few busloads through last May. as well Lass the delegates from Officers‘ Conference, The next ",four months were very busy. our records show we had épproximately 5.000 persons view the Home. exclud- ing the ofl‘tcial openings and Officers‘ Conference. 3‘ The Committee are much the wiser after the first year‘s effort. We do not need to tell you as home- r owners the hazards. pitfalls and headaches which arise tfrom the pleasures of ownership Property Improved The trees were trimmed and the hedge removed 7 from the front ofthe property. We now find it easier to '7'7‘lkarive in and out onto the busy County road. There is grow a lovely “Erland Lee Sign“ at the roadside and @ur Drive House has a sign adorning the from. both “"Tts of Saltfleet W.I. _ ‘ Our initial effort inside the Drive House was a and start for a first year. Thanks to Wentworth South istrict who assumed the responsibility for gathering . nd labelling the articles. it proved to be an interest ‘ oint for our visitors. We were pleased with the fine ‘ sponse of branch programs on display. which you cked on the display board. plenty of good ideas were und from glancing at this Board. We are still in need small articles which are reminiscent of the past and .1 mind all of rural Ontario. The Drive House affords plenty of space for more articles. The Craft centre. which was a dream. is still just at. it seemed physically. financially and mechani- lly impossible to work it out last summer. However. fibre are not disheartened and there is always next year. Picnic Area The grounds and picnic tables provided much en- .foyment for the visitors. The outdoor privy was noth- _ ng to brag abont. and the extreme heat ofthe summer i‘lidn’t help matters. However. all must realize that this ‘s an on-going project and next year more adequate ~acilities will indeed be top priority. Craft Gifts For Sale To those branches and members who donated to be sold. “thank you".
