COMMONWEALTH VISITORS Ramsay Women's Institute entertains wives of delegates attending Commonwealth Prime Min- isters‘ Conference, Ottawa. in August. While the Prime Ministers were busy at work. 35 wives were enjoying an outing at the Mill oi Kin- tail (Tait McKenzie Memorial) Almonte. The guests wandered through the grounds and toured the museum and then did full justice to the meal which we had prepared with all the skill at our command. The ladies were friendly and gracious and enâ€" joyed the formality of the occasion. Mrs. James Brown, P.Fi.0., said the Almonte members decided this was really a highlight in along history of cater- ing to interesting people at the Mill. Inmginative Meeting Brings Back Memories “Solway Women‘s Institute Members Relive Their School Days“ An interesting and unique meeting took place at the home of a member. Mrs. Robt. Ferguson. whose home now occupies the former site of Todd‘s School. Members returned to their school days for a brief afternoon. A school room was made possible by much imagination on the part of Mrs. Ferguson. Mrs. McIntyre and Mrs. Caslick. School desks were brought in. chairs arranged. as in a school room of days gone by. A dunce cap was in evidence, as well as a pointer and bell. Some lovely old lace valentines Were hung around the room. An old water tank that had been used in “Todd's” was resurâ€" rected and it added its role. The spelling lesson was in the form of spelling difâ€" ferent diseases. the geography â€" name a Province and its Premier. Science was in the form ofnaming country grasses, as teacher held each specimen up for all to see, School was interrupted several times by “spit balls” and a boy who spent his years at the school rushed in telling teacher he was sure Jimmy fell in the well. 26 An art seldom seen. making bobbin lace, is a e. cialty of Mrs. C.
