Ontario Food Councilâ€"Consumer‘s Section Mrs. Emerson Emke reported attending 2 meetings. Mrs. Emke said an announcement was made that a Market Development Com- mittee to study all aspects of the Turkeylln- dustry (export markets, promotion. distribuâ€" tion and new products) has been established. and that the Consumer Section plans to test cooking methods for turkey parts in c00pera- tion with Dr. Ore, Animal Science. University of Guelph. _ The revised pamphlet Ontario Apples 1s available, Miss Strang reported that legislation is before the United States House of Represent- atives, which will require that food packages state storage information and a Pull Date. Full Date is the last date a product can be sold without risk of spoilage, and it must be re- moved from the shelf after that day. It was suggested that Pull Date, plus storage informaâ€" tion was the most effective solution. but lack of inspectors to enforce legislation would be a problem, if similar legislation was passed in Canada. Concern was felt that more Ontario foods were not promoted at Ontario Place. The Consumer Section is involved in Proâ€" motion of Ontario Lamb. Tender Fruits. Eggs and Tomatoes etc. Approval to add tw0 addid tional members, one from F.W.I.O. and one from Consumer's Association of Canada was given.
