THE BANQUET The Honourable W. A. Stewart, Minister of the Department of Agriculture and Food. Mrs. Stewart and Mrs. Austin Zoeller, presi- dent of the Federated Women‘s Institutes of Ontario were special guests at the Thursday evening banquet. ' A feature of the program was musical num- bers by that group of girls who had chosen music as their special interest group and had been trained as a choir by Mrs. R. G. Mar- shall, A.T.C.M. The selections chosen were Consider Yourâ€" self, Little David Play On Your Harp. Sing A Rainbow, and the 4H Song. Miss Jean Scott who was chairman for the evening and Mrs. Stewart were presented with corsages by the girls. Guest speaker for the evening was Mr. Stewart, who told of the great pleasure that he experienced in speaking to this special group of girls and paid tribute to the dedication of the leaders of the 41-] Girls' Homemaking Clubs. The Minister said that he realized very well that the girls were growing up in difficult times when they were besieged on all sides by conflicting ideas, Young people today are tossed into a world which idolizes its athletes and ignores its scholars. In a few years the girls at tonight‘s banquet will be wives and mothers and then the influence of their train- ing in the 4H work will be felt. The influcncc of the mother in the home is the greatest lac» tor in the quality of the home. "Then you will have the opportuuity to set an example for the developing lives of )t‘lll' children. Do resolve to develop a pleasing Per- sonality and never accept a substitute for hon- esty, simplicity, modesty and a desire to coop- erate and to be useful," said the Minister in conclusion.
