Gates, Mrs. Austin Zoeller, Mrs. Russell McElwoin and Mrs. Stanley Bride. A Message From President Johnson America is proud to welcome the ASSOCiath Country Women of the World gathered here for your Triennial Meeting. Nev6r before haVe the women of the world had such a great op- portunity to serve. The world's population is expected to don- ble by the end of this century. With the diffi- culty we are now experiencing in providing enough food for all of today‘s people, we have reason for concern about our ability to provide proper nourishment for twice that many to- morrow. One of the aims of your organization is “to raise the standards of living of rural women all over the world." As you fulfill this objective, you raise the living standard for entire fami- lies. Working together, your five and oneâ€"half million members are a strOng and promising voice in the pursuit of human betterment. Providing enough food for all of our people is our foremost concern. We must find ways to maintain proper balance between food supply and population. And we must increase our ef- forts to help all persons to know and obtain good nutrition for themselves. A very close second to the food problem is that of education. Women have always had a major role in helping train the young. Today, this task remains your major challenge. And today, more than ever before, the doors are open to you and nations call on you to use your talents and your time generously in pur- suit of a better society. I know that you will all respond to that call â€" and that once again your kindness of heart and willingness of spirit will forge new mile- stones ior human progress. Lyndon B.
