The Girls’ Conference A Girl and Her Goals The rain that poured down on the campus at the University of Guelph on the evening of June 25, 1968 in no way dampened the spirits of the two hundred 4-H Homemaking Club members from all over Ontario, gathered in the Lounge of War Memorial Hall to meet each other, most of them for the first time. and to be welcomed to the annual Girls‘ Conference by Miss Jean Scott, Supervisor, Junior Extension, Home Economics Branch, and Miss Rosemary Clark. The girls were chattering as though they were old friends, and new friendships were already being established. Courity and District Home Economists were in charge of the evening’s program. The County and District Home Economists were: Mrs. Patricia Jackson, Waterloo County: Miss Kathrine Cowbrough. Bruce County; Miss Donna Stewart, Middlesex County; Miss Mary Beth Bothwell, Oxford County; Miss Elaine Bateman, Dufferin County; Miss Susan Brice. Haldimand and Norfolk Counties; Miss Susan Heard, Huron County; Miss Donna Hepburn, Lanark County; Miss Nancy Marsh. FALL 1963 Prescott and Russell Counties; Miss Mary Leah Milligan. Kenora and Rainy River Disâ€" tricts: and Miss Linda Saurette. Perth County. Miss Scott welcomed the girls officially on Wednesday morning. She congratulated the group on being chosen to represent the 14,400 Ontario 4-H Homemaking Club members at this conference. Miss Scott said. “You are here because of your contribution as a club mem- ber. All of you have County Honours; many of you have Provincial Honours, and some of you are on your way to completing eighteen units which will qualify you for the new Adâ€" vanced Honours Certificate and the Silver Pie Server." In speaking of the theme of the conference. “A Girl and Her Goals,” Mis Scott said, “Do you think it important for a girl to establish values and goals? We are sure that every girl wants an opportunity to build a rich and re- warding life for herself and to be well equipped to make a contribution to the lives of others. During the conference We hope to give you a chance to tell Us of your goals. We hope. too, that you will find at this conference an opportunity to set your sights or evaluate goals you already have in mind." Miss Scott continued. "For you we have 13
