RWLO. Annual Board Meeting By Mrs. C. Diamond, Provincial P.R.0. president, welcomed the board mem- bers and extended a special welcome to the nine new board directors including the member from the new subâ€"division 13A in Simcoe County. She reminded them of the very important role they play in directing Women's Institute work and thanked the Board for the coâ€"operation she had received during the year. Mrs. Small reviewed her activities in the past year when she attended all fourteen area conventions and represented F.W.I.O. at many organizational and social functions throughout the province. The name of Mrs. Adelaide Hoodless was proposed as a Canadian woman of renown. and Mrs. Small reported that her name has been accepted as one of the 13 names for Expo 67. A letter of appreciation has been sent to Dr. J. D. McLachlan, president of the University of Guelph who is retiring this year, and also a letter of congratulations to Dr. Winegard. Toronto, recently appointed to this office. As F.W.I.O. representative. Mrs. Small re- ported on the following meetings: A.C.W.W. Report Mrs. Small attended the A.C.W.W. Council meeting in London, England in September and ‘ met representatives from most countries throughout the world. At this meeting, F.W.I.O. was also represented by Mrs. A. G. Bradbury who was named at the request of A.C.W.W. to represent us in England. Mrs. Bradbury has been appointed to the United Nations committee and the board members voted to pay her expenses to attend these meetings on their behalf. Ontario Conservation Council The Ontario Conservation Council, estab- lished in 1952, is an educational. non-profit, non political, public service body. Extensive studies have been done on various subjects and the aim is to encourage the wise Lise and manâ€" agement of the renewable resources in the province. A major conference for parks and recrea- tion is planned for 1967. Protection and wise use of our fresh water is of great concern and water shortages, pollution problems and Floods have been given careful consideration. There is a report of new soft detergents com« ing into use but no reduction in the amount of phosphates which detergents yield. A recommendation has been made for ex- propriation that although needs of community are broader and more important than indiâ€" vidual land owner, yct right of individual should be respected. The Council commended the Minister of Lands and Forests for introducing Woodlands Improvement Act. Canadian Association for Adult Education The Canadian Association for Adult Edu- cation was a national, voluntary, non-profit, educational organization trying to create :1 led- cral structure with a division set up in British ('olumbia in 1962 and in Nova Scotia in 1964.
