Our Literature Goes North It was reported at the Board meeting that a request had come from the Department of Nor» lhern Affairs for literature to be sent to Womv en‘s Institutes in the Northwest Territories. The literature sent included Fifty Years of Achieve- ment, the bulletin announcing Home Economics Services. the Women‘s Institute Brochure. book- lets on Junior work and some copies of Home and Country. The Department of North Affairs will select parts from these. have them translated into Eskimo and send them to the Institutes in the Territories. Resolutions Mrs. James Haggerty, Past President and Reso- lutions Convener, presented fifty-two resolutions that had come from branches through districts and convention areas and three emergency reso- lutions. ()nly \ixtccn resolutions were sustained ()f the others. some had already been imple- mented. in a few cases duplicate resolutions were combined in onci some had to he returned for further study or because they could be dealt with locally. Board members felt that sometimes Institutes presented unimportant resolutions be- cause they felt they should “rcsoIVe” something. It was recommended that resolutions should be more carefully screened at branch level. 'Ihese are some of the resolutions passed by the Board: A resolution asking that since ()ntario people carrying Hospital Insurance pay six months in advance and since hospital insurance is automa- tically deducted from pay cheques and the sea- son'dl worker may be paying insurance twice, 7
