Gordon Maynard One of the problems dealt with at the anâ€" nual meeting was how the Visiting Home- makers Services might be extended to reach out to our rural women. It is possible that the Women’s Institute members may be able to assist in this project when it is established. In developing a homcmakers service, it was agreed that the service should be acceptable to all types of homes. since the demand is so wide. The need for subsidy in order to make the service available to all, Whether on full pay, part pay or free basis, was discussch and the example given was of Britain where such a subsidy is granted by the Government to communities establishing a service. The Rehabilitation of the Handicapped was studied and it was most encouraging to learn that more and more business ï¬rms are emâ€" ploying these citizens and ï¬nd them very satisfactory. The needs of the mentally defec- tive persons were studied and, where possible, these needs have been met. There is still much to do along this line.
