Union Street WI Member, Shirley Deavitt, was in attendance and was also one of the first Members to sit on the board in 1967 after the school was closed. There were 15 WI Members and 6 guests in attendance. Lornevilleâ€"Argyle WI Members were pleased to be joined by Central Area President Hania White, Central Area Past President Joanne Lambert, Regional Board Director Barbara Weese (now FWIO President- Elect), Victoria West District President Gloria Blogett, and Members of North Emily WI. Upon arrival, participants were served a light lunch that featured herbs from the farm and teas blended by Penelope. Following lunch, the group was led on a walk through a farm meadow to identify some ofthe herbs and plants growing there and to be instructed in the folklore, culinary and medicinal uses associated with the plants. It seemed that the group could not learn enough of herb lore and, after the walk through the meadow, toured some of the garden spaces in the lawn. It was a beautiful day â€" sunny and warm â€" and even/one went home sated with good food and saturated with new knowledge. Theatre, During the trip, Marion Koepke kept everyone entertained with draws for prizes and an educational trivia contest with one side ofthe bus competing against the other. Much was learned and the contest ended in a tie, with all participants receiving a chocolate bar. Once at the theatre, there was time to stroll around the beautiful gardens. A delicious roast beef dinner was enjoyed before everyone made their way to their seats to watch the production (direct from Las Vegas and Branson) of OH WHATA NIGHT! A Musical Tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Everyone bounced in their seats as the four singers on stage rocked out to many familiar songs. Following the twoâ€"hour show, there was a meet and greet with the entertainers and a chance to have pictures taken. Bradley Walters and his twelveâ€"yearâ€"old nephew, Schyler, came on board the coach to thank the group for coming and to wish them a safe trip home. Many have already signed up to do this again in 2015! Bethel-Zion WI On May 14, 2014, Bethelâ€"Zion WI (Hastings District, Trent Valley Area) hosted its first ROSE Session with 29 participants. The topic was gardening with a focus on container gardening. All Branches in the District were invited, as well as friends and neighbours of Bethelâ€"Zion WI. Jennifer Nash from Prosperity Gardens of Corbyville gave an interesting and informative talk on gardening. Jennifer demonstrated planting both a container and a hanging basket. She gave lots of tips along the way. Sandra Johnston donated several door prizes to be won. A delicious lunch was prepared and served by the Branch and it was a very successful ROSE Session, enjoyed by all.
