CANADA 150 UPDATE ‘ By Canada 150 Chair, Irene Robillard* The deadline of March 31st is fast approaching and it is not too late to submit your story to our WI Real Life Story Project. It can be a story of a specific event or memow or the story of your life. As ofthe NovemberAGM only26 stories had been received which is much less than anticipated. So please do not procrastinate any further. Each Member can submit up to three stories. Another draw was held at the AGM for those who submitted a story or had submitted one on behalf of someone. Congratulations to Catherine Freymond from Lennox & Addington District (Kingston Area) who won a book of poems and tidbits. There will be draws at the end ofJanuary, February, and March of 2015. So the earlier you submit your story, the more chances you get to Win. Please submit through the website or via email. At least one District has named a volunteer who will type and submit stories for others that are not comfortable with computers. Final Deadline: March 31, 2015. Marie is shown here with 16 children’s sweaters and other articles she has knit for Canada Comforts. Ingrid knits in the European style and demonstrated this at her booth in a fair of activities at the North Central Area Convention at the end of September. Other booths presented quilting a mug rug, making a small gift box from card stock and reading and using crystals for health and peace. Pictured: Ingrid Schmidt Ingrid has been producing items for Canada Comforts for many years, as have many of you in the Women’s Institute. Canada Comforts is completely run by volunteers who work out of the Compassionate Warehouse in Victoria, British Columbia. They get no official funding. Non-government agencies help pay for the container shipping charges to get their goods overseas to the areas where they are needed. They welcome teddy bears and the bags to put them in, washcloths, sundresses, panties and other children’s clothing.
