I r/CELEBRATING {100% ANNIVERSARIES! Jarratt-Creighton WI Seventyâ€"four people met at Jarratt Hall on August 21, 2014 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Jarrattâ€" Creighton WI (Simcoe North District, Simcoe Area). The Tweedsmuir History Books were on display for all to see. Evelyn Peck (FWIO President, 2013â€"2014) presented a certiï¬cate from FWIO and 100 year pins to each of the Branch’s six Members. FWIO Past President, Elsie Stephenson brought greetings and said how much she admired the antique display that was set up. Alana Robinson, Western Regional Board Director, brought greetings and showed the various levels of FWIO on a display board. Simcoe Area President, DonnaJebb and Simcoe North District President, Lorraine Hook both brought greetings and congratulated all Members of the Branch. Members from other Areas, Districts and Branches brought greetings and thanks for the invitation to spend the day with the Branch. Scott MacPherson presented certiï¬cates from MPP Garï¬eld Dunlop and Premier Kathleen Wynne. MP Bruce Stanton presented a certiï¬cate from Stephen Harper and himself. Mayor Harry Hughes, Deputy Mayor Ralph Hough and several councillors from Oroâ€"Medonte Township brought greetings and congratulations. Guest speaker, Tim Crawford spoke of the early plight of women as they came to the wilderness from England and Ireland. A musical interlude was provided by Bryan Sutton, a folk singer from Creighton. Lunch was served by the Members to complete the day. As guests left, they were presented with a grab bag containing many useful items. Alford & Park Road WI Alford & Park Road WI (Brant District, Hamilton Area) celebrated their 100th Anniversan/ with a tree planting and special celebration at Pine Grove & Howell Community Centre in Brantford in June 2014. Local historian, Ruth Lefler spoke about the involvement of Women’slnstituteinthecommunityovertheyears.Betty Howell was guest soloist, singing several songs that were popular 100 years ago. Lunch was prepared and served to guests by WI Members using ï¬ne bone china. The hall was decorated with WI colours, blue and gold, and accented with fresh, colourful flowers.The event was enjoyed by all who attended.
