On My Mind ~ By F W/O President Carol innes The Provincial Conference held in Waterloo from June 4th â€" 6th was certainly an eventful Conference. Our speaker on Friday evening was the former Lieutenantâ€"Governor of Ontario, the Honourable James Bartleman. Hetold us about his life growing upon an Indian Reservation and how he decided that his project during his term of ofï¬ce would be to help with schooling on the Reservations in the north, speciï¬cally with reading. We were entertained by the Waterloo Police Choir on Friday evening and by the Toronto Banjo Band on Saturday evening. The workshops were well chosen and interesting. The food was great, as was meeting people from other parts ofthe Province. Ifyou are a WI Member who has not been to Conference for a while, or never, please make plans to attend the next Provincial Conference. I have had the pleasure of attending the 100th Anniversaries of Aberarder WI, Simcoe East District WI, and Lennox and Addington District WI. There were some I did not attend: Dwight WI, Zephyr WI, Park Head WI, Plainï¬eld WI, Gordon WI, and Martintown WI. I also presented two vases to recognize 75 or more years of membership in Women’s Institute to: Jeanne Coulter of St. Paul’s WI and Helen Rath of Harrietsville WI. Congratulations are in order for these Branches and Members who have reached these milestones. I encourage you to keep on with your great work. I hope you had a great, hot summer and that you are returning to your Branches refreshed and eagerto make your next year a memorable one. â€" Carol ANNOUNCEMENT â€" Arthena Hecker has consented to be the Acting Presidentâ€"Elect of FWIO for 2010. â€" Donna Jebb has been appointed to the United Nations Committee of ACWW. â€" Christine Reaburn has been appointed to the Agriculture Committee of ACWW.
