ACWW Triennial Conference What a wonderful experience it was to attend the Triennial Conference of ACWW in Hot Springs, Arkansas! This was the first time I had attended this event and I found the whole thing something |wi|| never forget. To see the flags ofthe 74 member countries paraded in and on the platform until the end ofthe Conference was simply beautiful. Women the world over have the same concerns: food and education for their children, a peaceful environment, a source of income and acceptance oftheir value as individuals. We all want to be appreciated for the things we do. We, in this country, share the same desires of women worldâ€"wide. The volcano in Iceland prevented many women from getting to the Conference at all. The American hospitality was very much evident with the entertainment being so lltai‘libigg“ ~ I enjoyable and the closing gala being a wonderful evening for all. We were certainly treated royally. Several resolutions and recommenâ€" dations were passed with much discussion. We listened to the opinions from other countries and compared them with our own opinions. We made our decisions based on our discussions at our March Board Meeting. Monday was our tour day! I was able to take in the Garvan Gardens, which were in full spring mode, lunch at the new Farm Women’s Hall at the fairgrounds, a visit to a working potter in Hot Springs and a look around at the pottew in the shop, and a tour ofthe Bath House Museum. This was a most interesting stop. We were toured through the Bath House and told the history and operation ofthe Bath Houses. This was one ofthe best ofthe tours. The Conference was a very busy week with long days. There were Tea Breaks in the morning and afternoon. There was a little shop for purchasing items to take home. There was a Quilt Draw and a contest to vote on the best Quilt Square sent in for the competition. There were exhibits from ACWW and the Farm Women re projects and activities they had been involved with. There was certainly a lot to see and do. At the Tea Breaks one met with old and new friends. Attending a Conference such as this gives one a very broad picture of WI work around the world. It also drives home the similarities of women no matter where in the world they live.
